I’d skip most iPhone cleaner apps, honestly. A lot of them sell you a scan, then hit you with a paywall when it’s time to delete stuff. @mikeappsreviewer already covered one of the better options, and I agree on Clever Cleaner. It’s one of the few that feels usable without wasting your time.
Where I disagree a bit is this. Cleaner apps are best for photo and video clutter. They do not fix all the “System Data” junk people blame after an iOS update. If your storage blew up right after updating, check this first.
Go to Settings, General, iPhone Storage.
Look at Messages, Photos, Files, Safari, and any streaming apps.
Safari website data and offline downloads from Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, and podcasts eat space fast.
Best app pick, Clever Cleaner.
Best manual fix, clear Safari data, remove old message attachments, and delete downloaded media.

Cleaner apps are useful, but I’m gonna disagree a bit with the “best app fixes the problem” angle. After some iOS updates, the slowdown is often Spotlight reindexing and bloated app caches, not just photo junk.

Compared with what @viajantedoceu, @sonhadordobosque, and @mikeappsreviewer mentioned, I’d add one thing people forget: check apps that silently cache tons of media. TikTok, Instagram, Chrome, Discord, and podcast apps can balloon hard. Sometimes deleting and reinstalling one of those frees more space than any cleaner app.
So my take:
- for photo/video clutter: Clever Cleaner
- for post-update weirdness: identify the specific app cache hogs and reinstall selectively
That combo usually works better than relying on one cleaner app alone.
